UV and PV are two metrics commonly used to measure website traffic, but the calculation methods and data significance of these two metrics are different. PV can reflect the popularity of a website, while UV can reflect the activity level of website visits.
UV (Unique Visitor)#
UV refers to the number of unique visitors, which means the number of non-repeating visitors who access a website within a certain period of time.
Regardless of how many times a visitor accesses the website in a day, only one UV is counted.
UV is generally distinguished based on the user's IP address to identify visitors, where each client accessing the website from a computer is considered one visitor.
PV (Page Visitor)#
PV refers to the page views, which indicates the number of times users access website pages, or in other words, the number of times a page is viewed.
If a visitor accesses ten pages on a website, the PV counter for that website will increase by ten.
A visitor can typically generate multiple PVs, so PV is often greater than UV.
PV is an important reference metric for website marketing activities and improving website content, as it can reflect the popularity and attractiveness of website pages.
